Vanessa Atkinson to play part
 in World Open Show ...

The 2004 Women’s World Champion and former World Number One Vanessa Atkinson will be the presenter for the World Open Squash 2011, which will be staged in the Dutch city of Rotterdam from 28th October to 6th November.

Atkinson retired from professional squash only a few months ago after a blistering career, and decided against coming out of retirement for the combined PSA and WISPA World Open which is being held on her home soil.

Instead the 35-year old English-born Atkinson committed to presenting the biggest squash championship ever to be staged, and will kick-off her new career with the World Open Draw which is being conducted live next Monday (10th October) in Rotterdam.

Tournament director Tommy Berden is delighted that his illustrious compatriot decided to come on board for the World Open:

"Since Vanessa retired, we’ve been looking at ways to get her involved during the event, as she is by far the best ever squash player to come out of the Netherlands. We are thrilled that she has accepted our offer to present the final stages of the championship and are looking forward to her courtside interviews with the players."

Atkinson’s presence as presenter will add yet another dimension to the World Open Squash 2011 which is being played at the successful Victoria Squash Club (28-Oct to 02-Nov) and the renowned New Luxor Theatre (03-06 Nov).

With a star-studded line-up, featuring the 112 best men and 72 best women in the world, a record prize fund -of $418,000 USD, a stunning venue and a sell-out crowd of 1,500 for both the semi finals and finals, the stage is set for a stunning championship.

The draw for the World Open Squash 2011 will be revealed on Monday October 10th during a special press conference which features the city’s major Ahmed Aboutaleb, WISPA’s Tour Director Tim Garner, PSA’s COO Lee Beachill and of course ‘presenter’ Atkinson herself.
